Quick answer

Is Zopa’s current account worth having? It’s a free, app-only personal current account (Biscuit) from Zopa Bank, a PRA-authorised bank, with FSCS-eligible deposits up to £120,000. It works well alongside Zopa’s Smart Saver pots, but it isn’t on the Current Account Switch Service and has no overdraft or joint account (as of 12 September 2026).

Who it’s for — and who should avoid it

Who it’s for

  • People who want a free app-only account from a UK bank
  • Savers who’d use Zopa’s Smart Saver pots
  • Anyone happy to move payments across manually
  • People who don’t need cash pay-ins

Who should avoid it

  • Anyone who wants a seven-day CASS switch
  • People who need an arranged overdraft
  • Couples wanting a joint current account
  • Anyone who pays in cash

Key features

  • Free personal current account (Biscuit)
  • Rotating benefit (boosted interest or cashback options)

The catch

Zopa isn’t on CASS, so moving Direct Debits and your salary is manual. It’s digital-only with no cash pay-in, no arranged overdraft and no joint current account. Smart Saver rates change — re-check before you move money.
